Cesar Zuiderwijk - The Story of a Drummer

Cesar Zuiderwijk and music journalist Jean-Paul Heck bring the biography "Cesar: The Story of a Drummer" to the stage this autumn in a College Tour format - an evening of spoken word, anecdotes and drumming performances.

Zuiderwijk and Heck take the audience through Golden Earring's greatest successes and difficult moments, Cesar's solo work, the Sloper project, and the abrupt end of Golden Earring in 2021 following guitarist George Kooymans' illness. Visitors can also ask questions or share their own stories about Cesar or the band.

Cesar Zuiderwijk joined Golden Earring in 1970. Alongside his work with the band, he launched the musical project Labyrinth in the 1980s and opened his own drum school. In 1992 he organized a performance by 1000 drummers on the Maas in Rotterdam; in 2018 he brought 2000 drummers to Scheveningen beach for Live On The Beach. He is currently active with the band Sloper and as a jury member of the television programme The Tribute: Battle of the Bands.

Jean-Paul Heck has been a music journalist for over 35 years at publications including De Telegraaf, OOR and HUMO, and is editor-in-chief of Classic Rock Magazine. He previously published the books "Fuck You Very Much", "Soundz" and "Crazy Rock & Roll Stories" and interviewed David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, Bruno Mars, The Who and Led Zeppelin. Heck was the first winner of the Jip Golsteijn Journalism Prize and plays drums in the Queen tribute band Crazy Little Things.
