75 Years of Television with Oebele - Hamelen Choir & Bert van den Brink, Pierre Palla Concert Organ

On Friday, October 9, Bert van den Brink and the Television Choir Oebele Hamelen look back on 75 years of television. The Pierre Palla Concert Organ - an instrument from the radio era - proves ideally suited for this repertoire, especially in the hands of jazz musician Bert van den Brink.

The choir performs not only their own work for the first time, but also well-known themes from other programmes: from cheerful children's series, drama series and major entertainment shows. Compositions by Ruud Bos, Tonny Eyk, Joop Stokkermans and Harry Bannink are featured. The audience is welcome to sing along.

Three TV icons participate: Loeki Knol (known as Lidwientje Walg in Hamelen), Margreet Heemskerk (Princess Madelein in Hamelen) and Paula Majoor (the voice of Pippi Longstocking).

The Oebele series started in 1968 with the Amsterdam Children's Choir Henk van der Velde; after three years came "Can you tell me the way to Hamelen, sir?". Because the choir sang virtually all children's television and commercials at the time, much of their own repertoire is also heard. A refreshment during the interval is included in the ticket price.
