Orchestra Meets Organ: Goois Symphony Orchestra and Arno Rog

The Goois Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Joost Geevers, performs on Saturday 31 October 2026 (20:15) and Sunday 1 November 2026 (15:00) with a programme in which orchestra and organ come together in three very different forms. The soloist is organist Arno Rog.

The Pierre Palla Concert Organ in Studio 1 functions during these concerts as a full orchestral member - not a solo instrument, but an integral part of the symphonic whole. The programme opens with Rossini's overture La gazza ladra, followed by Hans Zimmer's music from the film Interstellar, in which the organ plays a central role.

After the interval comes Camille Saint-Saëns' Symphony No. 3 "with organ". Saint-Saëns himself regarded this work as his musical testament; at its premiere in 1886 it broke conventional symphonic forms by fully integrating the organ into the orchestral fabric. The final section, in which organ and orchestra build together towards a monumental climax, is considered one of the most striking moments in the Romantic repertoire.
