Jong Metropole + Jeangu Macrooy

Jong Metropole shares the stage this autumn with singer Jeangu Macrooy, conducted by Simon Dobson. The programme features hits from Jeangu's albums and instrumental pieces from the Metropole repertoire.

Jong Metropole brings together young musicians from the classical and jazz worlds each year, selected from the top of Dutch conservatories. Since its founding in 2015, hundreds of students have participated in the projects. The orchestra is an initiative of Nationale Jeugdorkesten Nederland and the Metropole Orkest, made possible in part by the Cultuurfonds and the Keep an Eye Foundation.

Jeangu Macrooy (Paramaribo, 1993) began playing guitar at thirteen and moved from Suriname to the Netherlands in 2014, signing with Unexpected Records. Since then he has released an EP and three albums, participated in the Eurovision Song Contest, and performed in clubs and on television.

Simon Dobson is a composer, conductor, multi-instrumentalist and producer. He works as conductor and arranger for the Parallax Orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia and Heritage Orchestra in London, and regularly writes for the Metropole Orkest.
