Philip Glass 90 | Lavinia Meijer & Reyer Zwart

A musical tribute to composer Philip Glass, curated by harpist Lavinia Meijer and multi-instrumentalist Reyer Zwart.

Philip Glass turns 90 next year, and for Lavinia Meijer this is the occasion to create a programme reflecting on her collaborations with him. Reyer Zwart accompanies her on acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar and piano, and also performs work by Sufjan Stevens - an artist Lavinia connected with through Philip Glass.

The programme features arrangements of Glass's own compositions, including Mad Rush and Wichita Vortex Sutra, alongside pieces by contemporaries such as Meredith Monk, Wim Mertens and Sufjan Stevens. Works by Radiohead and original compositions round out the evening.

Lavinia Meijer is an exclusive Sony Classical International Artist who has performed worldwide with Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, Laurie Anderson, Ólafur Arnalds and Sufjan Stevens, among others. Her albums have been streamed over 100 million times on Spotify; two received Edison Awards and two achieved platinum status. Reyer Zwart works as a session musician and arranger in the Dutch pop scene and has contributed to recordings by Alex Roeka, Danny Vera, Daniël Lohues, Jacqueline Govaert, Claudia de Breij, Tim Knol and Anne Soldaat.
