Naamu ft. Aziz Ozouss

Following their acclaimed debut album Naamu (2023) - praised in Songlines and Jazzism and nominated for an Edison Award in the Global category - the band led by bassist and composer Teun Creemers embarks on a new direction. After earlier collaborations with West African musicians such as Kankou Kouyaté and Harouna Samaké, the focus now shifts to South Morocco through a collaboration with Aziz Ozouss, a Moroccan artist deeply rooted in the Amazigh music tradition.

Ozouss brings extensive knowledge of styles such as Rwaiss and Isemgan, and plays traditional instruments including the ribab and lothar. Together with Naamu, he explores the connections between jazz and the musical traditions of South Morocco - neither pure jazz nor gnawa, but a distinctive sound world where both influences merge and become something new. The first collaborative album was released in October 2026 and was recorded at Hiba Studio in Casablanca.
