Yuri Honing Acoustic Quartet

British newspaper The Times called Yuri Honing "one of the most creative and fearless saxophonists of the moment". A three-time Edison Award winner and Boy Edgar Award winner, he has been touring worldwide for three decades with over 15 million streams on Spotify and a sound that is instantly recognizable as his own.

At De Amer he performs with his Acoustic Quartet, playing music from his fifth album 'Heaven On My Mind' - an album inspired by Charles Lloyd and Pharaoh Sanders. The quartet consists of Yuri Honing (tenor saxophone), Wolfert Brederode (piano), Gulli Gudmundsson (double bass) and Joost Lijbaart (drums).

Over the years, Honing has collaborated with his generation of musicians in his Trio and Acoustic Quartet, as well as with artists such as Misha Mengelberg, Ernst Reijseger, Paul Bley, Gary Peacock, Paul Motian and Pat Metheny. He also seeks connections with Arabic music, pop music, classical music and contemporary dance - and alongside music, he engages with contemporary art and sculpture.
