Snarky Puppy is an American instrumental collective founded in Denton, Texas in 2004 by bassist and composer Michael League. The rotating ensemble of up to thirty musicians draws on jazz, funk, soul and global influences, resisting easy genre labels. Breakthrough albums *We Like It Here* (2014) and *Culcha Vulcha* (2016) brought international recognition, and the band has now accumulated five Grammy Awards. Two of those Grammy-winning projects - *Sylva* (2015) and *Somni* (2025) - were recorded in the Netherlands with the Metropole Orkest.
Snarky Puppy released the album *Somni* on November 21, 2025 via GroundUP Music - a live-recorded collaboration with the Metropole Orkest and conductor Jules Buckley, recorded over three evenings in Utrecht.
The band is currently on the Somni World Tour 2026 through Europe; the show on August 30 at De Oosterpoort in Groningen is sold out.
In December 2024, a reissue of *We Like It Here* (2014) was released, remixed, remastered and expanded with alternative takes on the occasion of the ten-year anniversary.
In August 2024, keyboardist Shaun Martin, one of the collective's regular members, died as a result of a stroke.
