SIGH (Japan) + Devil Master (USA)
Japanese experimental black metal band SIGH performs in Utrecht with American support from Devil Master. An evening of musical violence, theatre and Satanic humour.
Sigh is a Japanese avant-garde metal band from Tokyo, founded in 1989/1990 by multi-instrumentalist Mirai Kawashima. Starting out as a Nordic-influenced black metal act - their debut 'Scorn Defeat' (1993) appeared on Euronymous's Deathlike Silence Productions - they evolved into one of extreme metal's most eclectic outfits, weaving jazz, psychedelia, symphonic elements and traditional Japanese instrumentation into their sound. Kawashima remains the sole constant member and continues to drive the band forward.
Sigh released their fourteenth studio album 'Goh-Ka' on September 4, 2026 via Peaceville Records, featuring a guest guitar solo by Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt on the track 'Unputenpu'.
The band announced a European tour for September 2026 in support of 'Goh-Ka', following earlier club shows in the US with Dreadnought.
Sigh played a series of European club shows and festival performances in August 2025, including Brutal Assault (Czech Republic), Hellsinki Metal Fest (Finland) and Midgardsblot (Norway).
On June 13, 2025, 'I Saw the World's End (Hangman's Hymn MMXXV)' was released via Peaceville Records, a complete re-recording of the 2007 album 'Hangman's Hymn' to commemorate the band's 35th anniversary.
The twelfth studio album 'Shiki' (2022) was named by Heavy Consequence as one of the best underground metal albums of that year.
