Metric are a Canadian indie rock band formed in Toronto in 1998, built around vocalist and keyboardist Emily Haines and guitarist James Shaw. Blending new wave textures with guitar-driven rock, they broke through internationally with Live It Out (2005) and Fantasies (2009), and have since released ten studio albums while winning multiple Juno Awards. Their music has featured in films including Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and the Twilight saga; their tenth album, Romanticize the Dive, arrived in April 2026.
