Blood Red Shoes are a Brighton-based indie rock duo - Laura-Mary Carter on guitar and vocals, Steven Ansell on drums and vocals - who have been making noise without a bassist for over two decades. Their six studio albums, from 'Box of Secrets' (2008) to 'Ghosts on Tape' (2022), are released on their own Jazz Life label, and their live shows are known for a raw, high-energy intensity that belies the two-piece format.
Blood Red Shoes released the new single 'Screams' on March 30, 2026 - their first new music since 2023 - and simultaneously announced a European tour for October 2026.
Laura-Mary Carter worked on solo material during the interim period and toured as support for Queens of the Stone Age, after which the duo focused on Blood Red Shoes again.
The live album '20 Years of Blood Red Shoes: Live in Paris' was released on December 6, 2024, recorded during the twentieth anniversary concert at La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris on September 13, 2024.
The duo celebrated its twentieth anniversary with four anniversary concerts and the accompanying live recordings.
