Grupo La Salsa Alta is an Amsterdam-based salsa band whose members come from Curaçao, Aruba, Canada and the Netherlands. They met at Jazzcafé Alto, where they ran the weekly Salsa Jam Sessions ("Descargas") for two seasons. Their sound blends a solid salsa foundation with jazz influences, giving their Latin American music a distinctly improvisational edge.
