Kees Prins - YESTERDAY (try-out)

What do the songs of a Beatle and the life of a boy from the provinces have in common? At first glance, nothing - except that they unfolded at the same time. While Yesterday, Penny Lane and Can't Buy Me Love dominated the radio, the soul of a growing young man was shaped by hope, misery, happiness and sorrow.

In YESTERDAY, Kees Prins tells stories from his youth: not loose anecdotes, but real stories with a beginning and an end, with as much humour as tragedy, with bravado and ruthlessness. Each story has its own song. Kees Prins sings Paul McCartney's songs in them, with the latter as a 'fly on the wall'. And all of this is true.

About Kees Prins: he is probably best known as creator and performer of the satirical television programme Jiskefet, together with Herman Koch and Michiel Romeyn. He also played leading roles in the television series Bij Ons in de Jordaan, Overspel and Buza, and appeared alongside Pierre Bokma in the film De Uitverkorene. In theatre he performed in De Duo's (with Arjan Ederveen), Een Man Een Man (with Pierre Bokma) and Vrede op Aard (with Olga Zuiderhoek), and toured with the music programme De Vertalingen (with JP den Tex and Paul de Munnik). He directed, among others, Adèle Bloemendaal, Paul de Leeuw, Van Vleuten & Van Muiswinkel, Plien & Bianca, Olga Zuiderhoek & Peter Faber and Jenny Arean. As a writer, his works include Weg, Here, There & Everywhere, Het Diner (based on Herman Koch's book), Een Man Een Man and Lift (the latter two with Roel Bloemen).
