KATWIJK - Compagnie Red Yellow & Blue

KATWIJK is a tragicomic performance by Compagnie Red Yellow & Blue about the relationship between a heterosexual parent and a queer child, exploring identity, mental health, and two generations struggling to understand each other.

When her friends cancel at the last minute, late-fifties Andrea takes her lesbian daughter Joosje to a luxury holiday bungalow in Katwijk. Joosje has been at home with burnout for six months and doesn't want to disappoint her mother, but dreads a weekend alone with her. She convinces her best friend Laurens to join them. Once in rainy Katwijk, Joosje can only sleep, Laurens tries to keep everyone happy, and Andrea's expectations crumble.

When Andrea finds the manuscript of Joosje's new book in her bag - where she settles accounts with her upbringing and her mother's role in it - the bungalow becomes a verbal battlefield before dessert. Even Laurens' culinary masterpieces can't save the atmosphere.
