Romy Moons - All By Myself
Werkplaats Walhalla, Rotterdam
What if being single is not a temporary state, but a complete life? In All By Myself, Romy Moons explores this question with sharp humour. Nearly half of all households consist of single people, yet the ideal of a permanent partner remains society's highest life goal. Moons (34, always single) challenges this taken-for-granted norm and shares her own story.
She takes the audience through the questions she receives, the shame she overcame, and the gap between how the outside world sees her and how she experiences her own life. The performance is a non-linear solo - a tapestry of political observations, her dating life, forms of cohabitation in nature, and the influence of her Disney childhood on her adult love life.
