When Father Fights - Het NUT / Greg Nottrot / Hendrik de Pecker

Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, waits at home while his father besieges a distant city. From this premise, Hendrik de Pecker wrote a new text about the vulnerable and those left behind - and about the legacy of a father who was never there.

Ellen Goemans and Joep Hendrikx perform all roles, shifting between realism and absurdism. Hendrik de Pecker is present as a writer on stage, building the mythical world in which fairy tale and documentary alternate. Central questions: how do you cope with resembling someone you never knew? And how do you become a father when you never had one yourself?

When Father Fights is a production by Het NUT, named best theatre company of the year by NRC in 2024. They previously created King Krump, The Order of the Day, and Cloth for the Bleeding.
