Evers was nominated for Neerlands Hoop and received praise from critics and audiences alike. Het Parool called him "The Dutch Jim Carrey" and gave five stars, as did the Volkskrant and De Limburger. De Theaterkrant wrote: "His arms sometimes seem to come loose from his body, and he contorts his facial expressions in ways that are hard to believe possible."
