Pyrrha Throws a Stone - A Beginning (Sabine van Kuipers) — Kantine Walhalla, Rotterdam

Pyrrha has just turned 19 and wants to finally begin real life - but she finds herself amid the smoldering ruins of what was once Europe. She would like to smash something, if only everything weren't already broken. Is humanity hopelessly lost, or can a reason to hope still be found?

Searching for answers, Pyrrha travels through the rubble and speaks with the people she meets along the way. The performance takes place shortly after World War II, but the questions are unmistakably of today: how do you move forward after a crisis when everything seems hopeless? Where to begin? And what can you do yourself? The journey she makes is musical and fairy-tale-like in tone.

Pyrrha throws a stone is a raw monologue based on true stories, performed by Sabine van Kuipers and directed by Olivier Diepenhorst. De Volkskrant wrote of Van Kuipers: "makes a strong impression with her earthy performance" (about 4.48 Psychosis); Het Parool called her earlier work "a thundering theatre trip" (about Gabbers waren we).
