Deronde/Deroo - Please don't make love to me, I'm exhausted
Theater De Verbeelding, Purmerend
In this performance, everyone tries to survive in their own way by chasing small moments of happiness. A clown in an interrogation room stubbornly folds balloon animals while the questions keep coming. A merman drags himself forward, gasping for the last drops. Two stand-up comedians desperately try to coax a laugh from an icy audience.
Clown, merman and comedians each search for a foothold in a world that is crumbling at its foundations. The same question echoes throughout: how do you move forward when everything around you is collapsing?
The Cultuurfonds wrote upon awarding the Wim Bary Stipendium (2025): "Their work is visually stunning; cinematic without a camera and poetic without words."
