Theater Rast - Incomprehensible Kingdom
Theater De Verbeelding, Purmerend
Two former lovers meet again after a long time at the edge of a swimming pool. In the languid heat, under the influence of sedatives, a disturbing confrontation unfolds: they return to their youth and to a shared secret that, thanks to the power of their fathers, could always remain hidden. As the day progresses, the distance between them and the truth disappears.
In Incomprehensible Kingdom, Ferhat Kaplan explores the seductive gloss and dark frayed edges of privilege. But above all, he seeks what the rich and poor have in common: a vulnerable, sometimes uncomfortable humanity. Kaplan draws from his own experience - he has been both rich and poor, and the psychology that comes with it, the way the world treats you differently, inspired this piece.
