The Van Arkel Brothers - Say You (Try-out)

Jeroen and Martijn van Arkel are brothers, theatre makers and finalists of the Amsterdam Kleinkunst Festival 2025. In their try-out Say You, they grapple with growing up: their father, the minister, has retired, and now it's their turn to become someone. Someone with a vision, a plan, their own coffee maker, matching tea towels and a 12-piece screwdriver set. Someone who doesn't have to constantly outdo his brother - someone you find yourself addressing as "you" without realizing it.

The show is dry-comic, with absurdity and unexpected poetry. The jury of the Amsterdam Kleinkunst Festival said: "With charming performances and their seemingly well-behaved demeanor, they effortlessly captivate the audience." De Volkskrant called them "a well-rehearsed comic duo whose theatrically well-conceived performance can count on the biggest laughs", and NRC wrote: "The entertaining brothers show that the best jokes often lie in seemingly small things."
