Naomi Seine
In the music theatre performance MARIA, Naomi Seine explores what motherhood means for her own identity. She follows a young woman's hesitation as she stands on the brink of becoming a mother - will she lose herself, or will a mother be born? Naomi decides to consult Maria, the holy mother of all mothers.
MARIA is about the words we want to speak but don't dare. About the silence between mothers and daughters. About pedalling frantically to school, about crumbs and crawling ants, about your forgotten cheese sandwich. About ingrained patterns so deeply etched in our minds that we no longer know who started them. About mother figures who prepare us for life while simultaneously making us stumble.
Naomi Seine is a music theatre maker and singer from Utrecht. She graduated from HKU Conservatorium in 2024. Her work explores subjects where shame, fear, desire and absurdism converge, combining poetic texts, a rich voice and eclectic music.
