In The Woods: Hans Theessink
In the Woods is an intimate seated concert series at Fort33 in Leusden, run as a non-profit venture and dedicated entirely to the music. On 8 May 2027, Hans Theessink takes the stage.
Theessink was born in Enschede and has lived in Vienna for many years. In the mid-1960s, he fell under the spell of the blues, inspired by artists such as Big Bill Broonzy, Brownie McGhee and Lead Belly. Since then, he has been on the road almost continuously as a traveling troubadour, releasing thirty award-winning albums. His deep, warm voice, subtle guitar and harmonica playing, and songwriting skills have made him a welcome guest at blues and folk festivals worldwide.
In 2009, he was nominated as the only European for a Blues Music Award in Memphis; in 2018 he was inducted into the Dutch Blues Hall of Fame. Bo Diddley once called him "one helluva guitar player" and the American blues press described him as "an international blues treasure". The Country Blues (USA) wrote: "Hans Theessink is one of the fiercest acoustic players in Europe and one of the top acoustic blues stars worldwide."
Tickets: € 20.00 advance (incl. € 2.50 service charge), € 22.50 at the door.
