Miss Starling
Miss Starling is the project of Marieke Naus, who creates indie-pop with sparkling electronics, light vocals, and melodies that stick with you. She cites Aurora and Florence + The Machine as inspirations. Her live shows are expressive, alternating between vulnerable, intimate moments and danceable pop hits - she performs as a duo or with a full band and dancers.
The name Miss Starling is deliberately chosen: a starling seems unremarkable from a distance, but up close its feathers shimmer in vivid colours. For her, this is a metaphor for humanity. Identity, emotional resilience, and the courage to be seen are recurring themes in her music.
In 2024 she won the Amsterdam Pop Prize at Melkweg, which drew national attention. In 2025 she toured the Netherlands during Popronde 2025; her opening show in Nijmegen was highlighted by 3voor12 as one of the "11 acts that convinced in 10 minutes."
