From One For The Mrs. to Now - Guido Joseph (Chef'Special) & Jasper Zuidervaart
How do you write an album that tells a story? When is a song finished? What happens behind the scenes during production, recording and mixing? At the Haarlem Vinyl Festival, Guido Joseph and Jasper Zuidervaart discuss their shared musical journey - fifteen years after it began.
Their collaboration started with One For The Mrs., Chef'Special's debut album. What followed was a creative trajectory that developed alongside the band's growth: from the first recordings to hits, international tours and award-winning productions. Guido Joseph is songwriter, producer and composer of Chef'Special, and contributed to songs like In Your Arms, Afraid Of The Dark, Amigo and Speed of Light. He has also worked with artists such as Kris Berry, Altin Gün, Teske and La Pegatina. Jasper Zuidervaart is a producer, engineer, mixer, musician and songwriter with multiple gold and platinum records to his name and productions awarded with an Edison and State Award, among others. He has worked with Winne, Armin van Buuren, Jeangu Macrooy, Jack & The Weatherman and Chef'Special.
During this seminar, Guido and Jasper share their vision on songwriting, arrangements, production and the creative process behind an album. Not a fixed step-by-step plan, but an open conversation about choices, doubt, inspiration and collaboration. For those who want to go deeper, there is also room for the technical side: from recording and production to engineering and mixing.
Later that day, Chef'Special themselves perform at the Philharmonie, also during the Haarlem Vinyl Festival.
