It is 1968 - the year of global revolution. From Paris to Washington, from Mexico City to Prague: everywhere young people are rising up. In Prague, students armed with ideals, art and bricks take on the Soviet regime. Jan Palach, a young, awkward history student, finds himself in a city bristling with resistance. To the sounds of Western free jazz - forbidden music under the regime - he rapidly transforms from a clumsy first-year into a passionate freedom fighter. But when Russian tanks end the Prague Spring and political divisions tear his family apart, a question emerges: how far will you go for your ideals?
