Donnie Wants the Lead Role | Donnie Stories (4+)

You've arrived too late for the musical performance! Tidy Tom is already mopping the stage. Fortunately, he's seen the musical so many times that he tries to recreate it as best he can, with a little help from the audience.

"Donnie Wants the Lead Role" tells the story of Donnie, who desperately wants to play the role of princess in the school musical. Teacher Ruth won't hear of it - he's not a girl, after all. Donnie gets the role of a dangerous dragon instead, but he still thinks the princess's songs are the most beautiful. In this interactive storytelling performance, Mitch Wolterink takes you into Donnie's story, and the question is: will he manage to play his dream role?

The performance is based on the book of the same name by Lisa Maschhaupt, illustrated by Saša Ostoja. Direction and performance are by Mitch Wolterink and Lisa Maschhaupt.

Every visitor - including children - needs their own ticket. Participation is only possible with adult supervision.

This performance is part of the Krentenbollen Children's Festival (autumn half-term at Studio de Bakkerij), running 17-25 October. The festival features performances, workshops and films for children, with the theme "being yourself: who are you and what makes you unique?" Studio de Bakkerij is also participating in the National Children's Theatre Week 2026, with theatres across the Netherlands organizing special activities for children. All workshops during the festival are free to attend.
