The Origins of Italo Disco

Following last year's success, DJ Rimini Express (Daniël Mol) returns to the Haarlem Vinyl Festival with fresh insights into the origins of italo disco.

Using vinyl records, Rimini Express traces how the colourful, electronic disco sound of the 1980s came about and who the people behind it were. He follows the genre from its very beginning through the major hits of Ryan Paris, Baltimora and Sabrina - and addresses a question that has occupied collectors for years: what was the very first italo disco track ever? Expect vinyl, video and stories about one of the most remarkable corners of music history.

Rimini Express grew up with italo disco through his father and has since shared his passion at venues and festivals across the Netherlands, including Best Kept Secret Festival, the Kunsthal in Rotterdam and the Haarlem Vinyl Festival. He also presents DISCOTECA, a monthly show on Birdcage Radio in Utrecht.
