Bertolf - Bluefinger Volume 2
Bertolf Lentink grew up with bluegrass - the acoustic blend of country and folk - but broke through as a singer-songwriter with guitar-pop songs. After six solo albums, he returned to that early love with Bluefinger: his best-known tracks in a bluegrass arrangement.
The recordings took place in Nashville, with session musicians including Jerry Douglas (dobro) and Stuart Duncan (violin). The result is playful and virtuosic: the final two minutes of 'Another Day' are a good example. Not all hits made the transition - 'First & Then' and 'Waiting In The Wings' are missing - but album tracks like 'Cut Me Loose' and 'Don't Look Up, Don't Look Down' shine surprisingly well in this new guise. Also new is 'Before The Storm', a duet with Ilse DeLange.
Bluefinger Volume 2 is the follow-up to that project, with which Bertolf will tour extensively through theatres in the coming months.
