The Dresden Dolls
American cabaret-pop duo The Dresden Dolls perform at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht.
The Dresden Dolls are an American duo from Boston, formed in 2000 by singer-pianist Amanda Palmer and drummer Brian Viglione. They coined the term 'Brechtian punk cabaret' to describe their own sound - a collision of theatrical songwriting, raw piano, and visceral drumming that defied easy genre labels. Their 2003 self-titled debut and the 2006 follow-up Yes, Virginia… earned international critical acclaim. After a lengthy hiatus, the pair returned in 2026 with a re-recorded version of Yes, Virginia… and a global tour.
Yes, Virginia… (Tailor's Version), a complete re-recording of the 2006 album, was released on August 7, 2026 on vinyl, CD and all streaming services.
The Dresden Dolls announced a world tour across Europe and North America, with a performance in Utrecht on September 7, 2026.
'My Alcoholic Friends' achieved the band's first platinum certification, nearly twenty years after the original release.
The re-recording of Yes, Virginia… was recorded in late 2025 at Mad Oak Studios in Boston, with guest contributions from Jinkx Monsoon and Veronica Swift.
After their twenty-year contract with Roadrunner Records expired, Palmer and Viglione acquired the right to re-record their old albums.
