Drink The Sea, a supergroup featuring R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, performs in Groningen. With Barrett Martin, Duke Garwood, Alain Johannes and Lisette Garcia.
Peter Buck (born December 6, 1956, in Berkeley, California) is an American guitarist and songwriter best known as co-founder of the alternative rock band R.E.M., with which he was active from 1980 to 2011. His arpeggiated jangle guitar style, closely associated with albums such as Murmur and Automatic for the People, helped define the sound of a generation. Since R.E.M. disbanded, Buck has remained prolific through projects including The Minus 5, The Baseball Project, and the supergroup Drink the Sea.
Peter Buck stated in an interview with MOJO that an official R.E.M. reunion will never happen.
Drink the Sea released the single "Oh Desire" as a preview of the upcoming album Drink the Sea III, scheduled for October 2, 2026.
Drink the Sea released a double album consisting of Drink the Sea I and Drink the Sea II.
The four original R.E.M. members performed together on stage in February 2025 in Athens, Georgia, for a performance of "Pretty Persuasion".
R.E.M. was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame; all four members performed together on stage for the first time since the nineteen nineties.
