Liam Shortall (b. 1996, Dumfries) is the Scottish multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer behind the Glasgow jazz project Corto.Alto. He plays trombone, bass guitar, synths and electronics, and trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland before joining the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. His debut album Bad With Names (2023) earned a Mercury Prize nomination and wide acclaim, championed by Gilles Peterson and BBC 6 Music. His third album SOME SMALL FORTUNE, released in September 2026 on Ninja Tune, features collaborators including Mick Jenkins, Oscar Jerome and Vector.
