Geinoh Yamashirogumi

About

Geinoh Yamashirogumi is a Japanese collective of over 200 musicians, founded by composer Sohei Ohsawa. The group blends traditional Asian music with electronic textures and minimalist composition. They gained international recognition through the soundtrack to the animated film Akira (1988), while their 1986 album Ecophony Rinne stands as a landmark in what they call "ecological music".
