Science Café

Science Café on resistance to science, featuring guest speaker Alyt Damstra - professor of Knowledge and Strategic Policy Advice at the University of Amsterdam and scientific advisor to the Scientific Council for Government Policy. She investigates the politicization of knowledge: scientists speak out politically, politicians hide behind science, and the rise of populism and algorithm-driven news gathering complicate that relationship further. How do scientific insights find their way into new policy, and how can advice land when only the political outcome matters?

WiWa opens the evening with an original song. Journalist Ward Deckers hosts the evening and poses your questions to the speaker.
