Extince, born Peter Kops in Oosterhout in 1967, is widely regarded as the father of Dutch hip-hop. His 1995 single 'Spraakwater' was the first Dutch-language rap track to reach the top ten of the national charts, opening the door for an entire generation of Nederhop artists and helping launch the Top Notch label. His Brabant accent, wordplay-heavy lyrics and funk-rooted sound remain instantly recognisable, and he has continued releasing music and performing into the 2020s.
Extince performed at Jera On Air 2026 (25-27 June, Ysselsteyn), as one of the few hip-hop acts at the punk festival.
