'Given the chance to hear him again live, I would run, not walk' - so wrote Musical America after Van Raat's recital at Carnegie Hall in October 2018.

Ralph van Raat is a pianist and musicologist. He completed his piano studies at the Amsterdam Conservatory (with Ton Hartsuiker and Willem Brons) and his degree in Musicology at the University of Amsterdam, both with distinction. He also studied with Claude Helffer in Paris, Ursula Oppens at Northwestern University in Chicago, and Pierre-Laurent Aimard at the Hochschule für Musik Köln.

His list of prizes is extensive: he won second prize and the Donemus Prize at the Prinses Christina Competition, the Darmstadt Scholarship Prize at the International Summer Courses for New Music, first prize at the International Gaudeamus Performers Competition, the (Philip Morris) Art Prize, the Elisabeth Everts Prize, an international Borletti-Buitoni Fellowship, the VSCD Classical Music Prize, the NTR Classical Prize, and De Ovatie 2019.
