Flip Noorman - Bonobo

Alpha males beat their chests. The language of war hangs in the air. Are we humans ultimately nothing more than chimpanzees with machine guns and drones, or is there still hope?

Flip Noorman searches within that logic of power for the overlooked sister of humans and chimpanzees: the bonobo. This 'make-love-not-war hippie ape' lives in a matriarchy where conflicts are resolved through sex. In a new theatrical concert, Noorman, assisted by the Noormen and -woman, settles accounts with the myth of the survival of the fittest - and counters it with a human nature that is empathetic and peace-loving. Perhaps against better judgment.

The programme is also a tribute to the late American-Dutch primatologist Frans de Waal, to Jane Goodall, and to Flip's own mother - the matriarch of a family full of men, who recently passed away after 35 years of chronic illness.
