Minorie presents: Ensemble Nist-Nah (FR) + Jon Collin (UK/SWE)

Ensemble Nist-Nah was founded in 2019 in Nantes by drummer and percussionist Will Guthrie. The rotating group of French musicians combines diverse backgrounds in traditional gamelan, contemporary classical, noise and jazz. They play on drum kits, traditional and found percussion, and a complete set of Javanese gamelan instruments.

The evening opens with English guitarist Jon Collin. Where Ensemble Nist-Nah draws from gamelan, Collin takes the blues as his starting point - and breaks open that century-old genre with drones, feedback, charged silences, field recordings and DIY recording techniques. Stylistically different from each other, but related in approach.
