Roel Spanjers

Roel Spanjers tells, plays and sings the history of blues piano. Alongside the great stylists of the genre, he ventures into R&B, gospel and rock 'n roll, complemented by his own compositions. The result is an intimate, informative listening concert filled with knowledge and good humour.

For years, Roel has been active as a keyboardist and Hammond organist with artists including Luther Allison, Smokey Wilson, JW Roy, Normaal, Terry Evans, Curtis Salgado, Stef Kamil Carlens, Dayna Kurtz, Frédérique Spigt and Roscoe Chenier, and as a solo artist under the name Birdcatcher on Dutch and international blues and roots stages. This season he is performing a series of exclusive solo shows, including one at De Liefde.
