Moving Narrative | Amber Docters van Leeuwen

Moving Narrative is a documentary theatre performance by Amber Docters van Leeuwen about adoption, origins, and what remains unspoken between generations. What began with unexpected contact with her biological father grew into a story spanning three generations: her father, her daughter Lou, and herself. They move between speaking and silence, between facts and feelings - a daughter seeks her father, a father struggles with distance, a child asks questions no one dares to ask.

Through music, sound and narrative, a thread emerges that can be passed on. Not to fix anything, but to give voice to what often goes unsaid.

Amber Docters van Leeuwen is a composer, performer and multimedia artist. In her work, she brings together sound, documentary and theatrical elements into interdisciplinary performances and installations. Sound is central - not only as music, but as a narrative force: as language, as a carrier of memories. Her work circles around themes of displacement, intergenerational transmission, trauma and identity, with attention to doubt and the unfinished. She studied cello at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and continued her studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. Within her platform EEFA Projects, she previously developed Capsule I & II (immersive sound installations).
