Arzbach, Brunt & Smit
More than fifty years ago, a group of musicians from Zaandam founded the band Stampei. Seven years later they disbanded, and former members went on to form De Dijk. With over 3,000 performances across the Netherlands, De Dijk became a major name until their final show at Paradiso.
Former De Dijk members Nico Arzbach (guitar) and Roland Brunt (saxophone) continued with writer and storyteller Peter Smit under the name Arzbach, Brunt & Smit. On their new tour, they perform songs from De Dijk and their three solo albums, interspersed with anecdotes about what musicians experience around their gigs - from the Rolling Stones in The Hague to David Bowie in a forest near Oslo. Sometimes bizarre, sometimes instructive, occasionally hilarious.
The evening's connecting thread is the travel song On The Road (Huub van der Lubbe/Nico Arzbach), with its full lyrics woven throughout the performance.
