The Last Mandrill EP-Release // Helen Jewett // Eolith — Simplon, Groningen
Description was written before the event

Hit the North prepares artists from Drenthe, Groningen and Friesland for a professional career. The nine participating acts attend multiple bootcamps, workshop days and excursions, with ESNS as the finale. This is one of the shows from the 2026 series.

The Last Mandrill performs the release of his new EP. He is the sole survivor of The Mandrills, once a sonic basement dweller from Groningen. His alternative collage pop draws from the 1990s and the present, resulting in a futurophobic worldview where nostalgia and despair collide with what is to come. Live, he combines siren vocals with distorted chaos and sound experiments - an experimental and atonal soundscape with a crystal-clear voice.

Helen Jewett - see line-up.

Eolith is a Groningen-based band that blends melancholy with a touch of grunge within the dreamrock genre. In a short time they have written a series of original songs about themes such as the cruelty of adults towards the innocence of children, the fear of losing a parent and the decay of relationships.
