On Sunday 30 August, Marita Simons-Deen (born 1942) shares her personal story during an eyewitness lecture. Her parents were transported from Westerbork camp to Auschwitz. Marita herself was betrayed while in hiding and ended up in the orphanage of Westerbork camp, with the 'Gruppe Unbekannte Kinder'.

About the venue: Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork

Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork is a memorial and education centre on the site of the former transit camp where, during the Second World War, more than 100,000 Jews, Roma and Sinti were held before being deported to extermination camps in the east. The grounds include a museum, reconstructed railway tracks and several monuments. The centre regularly hosts commemorations, lectures and temporary exhibitions.
