Children Who Chase Lost Voices (2011): Kaboom Anime

Kaboom Animation Festival and Melkweg present Makoto Shinkai's Children Who Chase Lost Voices (2011) on the big screen. Shinkai is known as 'the new Miyazaki', and this film is his most Miyazaki-like work - though somewhat less overtly romantic than his usual style. The film centres on themes of loss and loneliness, unfolding in a colourful, multicultural underworld where the young Asuna and her cat Mimi are drawn.

Note that Melkweg hosts other programmes simultaneously, such as concerts and club nights. Be aware that sound from other venues may be audible during the screening.
