French Kiss

French Kiss moves at the intersection of soul-jazz, funk, and free improvisation. The music is rooted in groove and melody, but carries an exploratory, lightly avant-garde undercurrent that leaves room for risk and spontaneity.

Composer and bandleader Ferdinand van Duuren writes the repertoire and sets the artistic direction. Over nearly thirty years, the band has developed its own musical language where composition, improvisation, and intuition flow into one another. On stage, the five musicians colour the pieces with their own experience and personality - the result is raw and never entirely predictable, sometimes direct, sometimes introspective and layered.

In 2026, French Kiss celebrates 30 years. The band marks this milestone with four new singles and an album released in 2026/2027, and will perform regularly live in the coming period.
