Boerenmaas & Marieke

Marieke van Ruitenbeek is a singer and singer-songwriter who creates her own Dutch-language music. She studied at the conservatory, teaches music at primary schools and at the Lindenberg in Nijmegen, and works as a conductor. Her debut album 'Ongelofelijk Fantastisch' was released in 2019.

At Boerenmaas & Marieke, she sings jazz with Gerard de Boer (saxophone) and Thed Maas (trumpet). This duo previously played together in the bands Strange Go, Jazzis and Sway. With Strange Go, they won the Silver Microphone of Nijmegen in 1986 and performed in countries including America, China, Costa Rica and Kenya.

The repertoire consists of jazz standards such as Cheek to Cheek, Summertime, Sway and Autumn Leaves, supplemented with songs like Englishman in New York.
