Four Cremations and a Divorce - De Theatertroep

Today we gather to remember. Old acquaintances, mixed emotions. Someone who cannot stop crying, another who laughs everything away. Wrong jokes at the wrong moments, speeches that go on too long. Who loved the deceased most? Who has the most right to grieve? Death unites, they say - but sorrow can also divide.

"Four Cremations and a Divorce" is a comedy with a touch of mourning, borrowing only its title from the rom-com "Four Weddings and a Funeral". The evening consists of miscommunication, slapstick, inappropriate remarks and hilariously awkward scenes - about old and new conflicts, and the question of whether you can only speak well of the dead. De Theatertroep and playwright Magne van den Berg think not.

De Theatertroep is a collective of six actors dedicated to reintroducing and reinventing the vaudeville form. The production is by and with Rosa Asbreuk, Patrick Duijtshoff, Kyrian Esser, Elisabeth ten Have, Timo Huijzenveld and Nicolien Raatgever, with text by Magne van den Berg.
