Guyland - Buyse and Joosten

At the opening of a new children's playground, a seven-year-old boy falls and is badly hurt. The adults present stand together in a moment of silence - and then it becomes clear that one of them could save the child. Who will take responsibility?

The artist has ignored the usability of the play structure in his artistic freedom. The municipal official is preoccupied with cryptocurrency and fitness. The intern talks about his potential and standardized tests. The event manager - the only woman - is questioned about her missing maternal instinct. They seek distraction in weak jokes and Happy Meals, but time is running out. Who will make the sacrifice?

Comic scenes alternate with quiet, still moments in a Men's Circle, where the characters reconstruct what went wrong. Guyland humorously questions why men refuse to grow up: are these spoiled boys, or are they caught in a fundamental identity crisis?

Buysse & Joosten consists of actress Emma Buysse and director Luna Joosten, who together write clever, fast-paced texts about the zeitgeist. Their humorous and absurd style critically reflects on the millennial generation. They previously created productions including Crybaby and Meta-moe. Guyland is their fifth production.
