De Belangelozen - Collectief T & T
Cultuurpodium Groene Engel, Oss
We follow Sam, a volunteer with grand ideals who is determined to help people struggling with debt. He works through stacks of letters, calls creditors one after another, and creates budgets with ease. Sam has grasped the concept of the Participation Society - and he will participate until he has helped all poverty out of the country.
The performance raises urgent questions about how we deal with a growing group of people in poverty, and about the sustainability of the ecosystem of volunteers and organizations that fills the gap left by the government. With humor, and sometimes an absurdist undertone.
De Belangelozen was created in close collaboration with the Humanitas association. The makers volunteered with them in preparation for the performance, to sketch a recognizable and human perspective on what it means to be a volunteer. Collectief T&T creates socially engaged theatre; Via Rudolphi Producties is a theatre house that works with autonomous performing makers.
