Loma Prieta (USA) + Hexis (DK) + Violence (DK)
Three bands, one night of blackened screamo and posthardcore punk at dB's Utrecht.
Headliner Loma Prieta hails from the Bay Area and has been a fixture on Deathwish Inc. records for over two decades. The band moves between screamo violence and more layered, restrained posthardcore. European mainland shows are rare - this is their only Dutch date.
Coincidentally, Danish bands Hexis and Violence are also touring Europe during the same period. Hexis is a staple of the deep underground: founded in 2010 from the DIY ethos of punk and hardcore, but with a sound rooted in the dark intensity of black metal. Over a thousand shows to their name - from the Faroe Islands to New Zealand, from Cuba to Mongolia - make them an uncompromising live band. Frontman Filip Andersen and his bandmates deliver raw, blackened and crusty hardcore.
Violence, also Danish, features members of the former hardcore band WOES. Where WOES was about hardcore, Violence now sounds darker and more post-punk, complete with synths. The band describes itself as 'a somewhat goth band in the hardcore scene'.
